Wedding Insurance

Everyone knows that things often can and do go wrong on your wedding day.  Most times these are quickly rectified with only the normal stress levels that come on your wedding day.

However, what about the chance of a storm effecting the wedding day or the photographer doesn't turn up?  Wedding insurance is something that you should seriously consider, as all the plans in the world can't stop something unforeseen occurring and costing you thousands of dollars.

Wedding insurance helps protect you from misfortunes that could happen on the day of your wedding. The policies are very inexpensive when you consider what it covers and how it can protect you. Purchasing wedding insurance is every couple's personal choice, though you should know what it covers to see if it may be something you need.

First, wedding insurance can cover the misfortune of bad weather. If you plan to have your wedding outdoors and it storms, obviously, your wedding has to be postponed and your policy should include rescheduling costs.

Thirdly, if the groom or bride becomes ill on the day of the wedding, obviously, it will have to be postponed and the policy covers this type of misfortune.

Fourthly, if the vendors you hired fail to show up on the big day, such as florists or the photographer, the wedding policy also includes this.

Of course, you can add many items to your wedding insurance policy and overall, it probably is a good plan to have. Weddings are planned so carefully, but no one can predict if the groom happens to break his ankle on the day of the wedding, or if the storm clouds move in.

Because weddings are so very expensive is the reason the policy exists at all, it helps to recover some of the loss in instances of mishap. Everyone hopes for a smooth wedding, but sometimes things can happen that are less than ideal and out of everyone's control.

One thing to keep in mind when purchasing wedding insurance, it does not cover a case where the groom or bride decides they don't want to get married (cold feet), since that obviously is an avoidable misfortune.

Finally, if you are planning a very large wedding with lots of vendors and many guests, a wedding insurance plan is probably something you should not forget to take out. It is only good until after you say your "I Do's" but well worth it if something prevents you from walking down the isle.

It is a huge wedding and because of this, you decide to have it outdoors since you live in an area where it is sunny most of the time. The wedding day arrives and it is storming with monsoon rains, and your wedding has to be rescheduled. This is not an uncommon event, unfortunately, but if the couple has wedding insurance, they can reschedule the wedding and will not be out the money for a full reschedule.

Everyday people get married and everyday many go smoothly with no problems, but many people can tell you of misfortunes they had at their weddings such as the photographer not showing up or the church has no wedding flowers.

Wedding insurance covers many of the misfortunate events that can take place on your wedding day. Couples can select a specified insurance plan or they can customize it to their specific needs. Planning weddings are very expensive and time consuming and many people either do not know about wedding insurance or simply do not see a need for it. However, if something happens on that special day, having the insurance helps you recoup some of your losses.

Wedding insurance overall is not terribly expensive because it is temporary insurance until after the day of the wedding. Interestingly, wedding insurance has been very popular in Great Brittan for a number of years, but it just began to make an impact in America about ten years ago.

If you have a wedding you are planning, you probably need to include the wedding insurance in the plans. The larger the wedding, the more you need the insurance since many people have outdoor weddings and even the large indoor weddings are very expensive. If everything does not go smoothly on the wedding day or you have to reschedule, it can cost you literally thousands of dollars. A wedding insurance plan includes the cost of rescheduling so that if a mishap were to take place, you are covered.

Finally, even smaller weddings should have wedding insurance, because big or small, weddings are expensive and in the event you had to reschedule, you would be out double the money. Wedding insurance can give you peace of mind on your big day.

Liability insurance: One of your guests falls at your wedding or the reception and claims he broke a bone or has lasting injuries. Liability insurance protects you from a guest at your wedding filing a lawsuit against you.

Illness or Death: If the bride or groom has to have emergency surgery to remove his or her gallbladder the day of the wedding, the insurance pays for non-refundable wedding deposits. Likewise, in the unfortunate event that a parent of the bride or groom were to pass away and you had to reschedule your wedding, the insurance helps pay for this.

Photography: Your photographer shows up with the wrong film and as a result your photos come out with a green tint to them or your photographer is a no-show. Wedding insurance covers the cost of bringing the wedding party back together in order to retake photos.

Stolen Gifts: If someone at the wedding helps themselves to expensive wedding gifts, you can recover some of the costs of the stolen merchandise.

Couples can customize the policy, such as increasing the amount of rescheduling the wedding, or photography mishaps. Wedding insurance is becoming more common as the price of weddings continue to rise and the couple wants to make sure they are covered if specific events come up.

Because wedding insurance is temporary, the cost is very reasonable with basic packages to highly customizable plans. For those that have very large weddings, obviously, wedding insurance is even more important because the expense of a large wedding is very high. However, the cost of any wedding can cost more than $25,000 depending on what is included. Many couples look for ways to cut costs, but still need the wedding insurance to make sure the money they did save does not end up being spent in rescheduling costs.

Finally, large items such as houses and automobiles are insured without a second thought, and many weddings can cost a lot more than your automobile, which is why it is vital to have wedding insurance.

Wedding insurance is a fantastic insurance policy to have. With the rising costs of weddings in general, having a plan that covers mishaps such as bad weather for outdoor weddings, photography problems, florists' issues, and general liability insurance it is a must-have policy.

Of course, like all insurance plans, some items and certain events the plan will not cover, and you should be aware of them when planning your wedding and insurance. These include:

Cold Feet: if the groom or the bride decides not to go through withbedroom furniture the wedding for whatever reason, the policy does not cover the costs of any lost deposits. This is obviously an avoidable, albeit unfortunate event. There maybe a clause to this though, in the event the bride's father pays for the entire wedding and the groom backs out, then the father is reimbursed. If the bride backs out, there is nothing recoverable.

Existing or Expected Illnesses: If the groom or the bride has an ailing parent that happens to pass away on the wedding day, this is not covered. On the other hand, if the father of the groom has a massive heart attack (and has never had one before) the day before the wedding, this may be covered.

Basically, the only two things the wedding insurance does not cover is getting cold feet or an ailing relative where the bride or groom knew there may have been a chance of death on or near the wedding day.

Wedding insurance is very affordable, in most cases, depending on what you want in your plan; you can expect an approximate range of $125 to $400. It is wise to purchase the insurance early on in the planning and when a day is set. It is never too early to purchase the wedding insurance, but some insurance companies will not insure the event at all, if you wait too long.

The nice thing about wedding insurance plans is they are highly customizable because they know that every wedding is different. Some place greater importance on the wedding photography than the flowers, so obviously, the couple can take out more insurance to cover photography mishaps.

Finally, when choosing your wedding insurance, make sure the insurance agent explains everything in detail of what is covered (and is not covered) and how much reimbursement the policy provides.
